Our Atlanta datacenter has office space available
Clients of Colo4Atlanta now have access to several thousand square feet of freshly remodeled office space available next door to Colo4Atlanta DC1 (Smyrna), which is great for staffing techs on-site or even locating your entire office there. Office sizes vary from 500sq/ft to 3,200sq/ft in various layouts, and includes controlled keypad access for after hours access. The building is already connected to the Colo4Atlanta datacenter via fiber, and any office can be connected to that fiber within 48 hours.
Network access can be configured to put your office on the same VLAN as your rack, cabinet, or cage. Typical office access includes a 100Mbit switch port connecting your office to the datacenter, however full gigabit switch ports are available as well as dark (MMF) fiber should you choose to light it yourself. Even if your equipment is in DC2 (downtown) you can still access your rack, cabinet, or cage VLAN at high speeds via our metro fiber ring. Colo4Atlanta can also provide plain old internet access via ethernet, and phone/data circuits up to DS3 if required.
The office space is in a great location at the corner of I-75 and I-285 with plenty of parking and accommodations within short walking distance.
Please contact Colo4Atlanta for more information and additional contact information for leasing.
Atlanta Colocation Service Expansion
Colo4Atlanta is excited to announce the following expanded service offerings:
- Free cross-connects between all Colo4Atlanta datacenter tenants and partner POP’s, this includes access to our Virtual MMR. Since we have three physical MMR locations, we are including access between them via our switched (Virtual) MMR. This will now allow all tenants to exchange services with one another without additional on-going expenses. This service is free from Colo4Atlanta, however in some cases there may be a one-time setup fee for special configurations.
- Off-site NAS colocation now includes a 3rd location outside of both datacenters, the NAS arrays will be located in a secure cabinet in a secure room at one of our network POP’s. Currently this location has Gigabit connectivity and excess dark fiber to expand to greater capacity in the future.
Colo4Atlanta announces dedicated NAS arrays for colocation clients
Colo4Atlanta is now offering enterprise grade dedicated NAS arrays for both on and off-site colocation. For clients not using the shared Colo4Atlanta NAS/SAN due to compliance or other such issues, we now offer a 100% private dedicated storage solution.
Our base offering is a single NAS device with 3TB of disk storage at RAID 5, the NAS can be connected to a client’s backend network segment and configured for backup data storage or live data storage.
Customizable specs:
- Up to 4 SATA II hard drives in RAID 0, 1, 5, or JBOD
- Hotswap hard drives with auto-rebuild
- Gigabit network port
- Easy to use web-based device administration
When leasing a dedicated NAS system from Colo4Atlanta, you are also receiving dedicated management and maintenance as part of the service. Colo4Atlanta guarantees to always have appropriate spare parts on hand in the event of failure.
Colo4Atlanta NAS arrays are typically located in a restricted access cabinet in the same data center as the client equipment, however Colo4Atlanta can arrange to locate the device in a client’s cabinet (1u required) or totally off-site. Off-site NAS colocation locates the device in one of our other data centers or POP’s, the traffic to/from the device is then tunneled back into the client’s backend network over our metro fiber rings.
For clients interested in larger dedicated NAS/SAN systems, please contact sales as we currently offer solutions up to 24TB.
Colo4Atlanta announces availability of Cisco ASA 5505 and ASA 5510 firewalls
Colo4Atlanta colocation clients can now lease dedicated Cisco ASA 5505′s and ASA 5510′s with full managed support from Colo4Atlanta.
Cisco was chosen over other brands due to the extensive configuration options, reliability, and maximum compatibility with the rest of our Cisco powered core network.
Clients can also double up on the existing Colo4Atlanta hybrid firewall system with their own personal ASA firewall for maximum possible protection.
Colo4Atlanta announces VPN access to backend colocation network
Colo4Atlanta has completed testing and setup of the new VPN system which allows clients to access their entire backend network from a secure out-of-band location. Basic VPN service is included with every quarter cabinet or larger colocation plan, which includes a single user account and a minimal bandwidth cap for emergency access and management uses. The Colo4Atlanta VPN network also spans across data centers in multible locations, should a Colo4Atlanta client have equipment in different Colo4Atlanta data centers, the VPN operates seemlessly as one large network.
The Colo4Atlanta VPN system is compatible with all common operating systems and firewalls that support industry standard VPN encryption protocols.
Clients requiring additional accounts or a dedicated remote VPN service can contact sales for a custom solution. The Colo4Atlanta VPN system can easily scale to support multiple remote offices and mobile users requiring access to the backend network.
Colo4Atlanta announces new Atlanta cabinet colocation services
Colo4Atlanta is adding an extensive number of full locking and divided colocation cabinets. These colocation cabinets will be available in 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, as well as full 42u sizes with combination locks to allow for fully unescorted access. The new cabinets will start phase one of our new downtown Atlanta data center expansion, and will include in-cabinet power meters with a significant number of power outlets per cabinet.
Colo4Atlanta Starts Rollout of Hybrid Firewall System
Colo4Atlanta has started rolling out stage one of it’s internally developed hybrid/adaptive firewall system, this move allows us to start testing the first phase of feature sets that will be offered to all dedicated and colocation clients.
The system is a custom designed hybrid mix of several projects Colo4Atlanta has been working on over the past few months. The initial features of the system will allow clients to add/edit/remove adaptive firewall rules on a network wide basis. Any client with one server or 100 servers can make on the fly firewall rule adjustments, for any of their assigned IP’s.
Access to the system is provided via a client portal where they will find a basic feature set of rules and adjustments they can make on a per IP, per VLAN, or per hardware interface basis.
As with any device that can alter network traffic on a wide scale we plan to test it extensively with the first set of clients who volunteered as testers. As issues are found and worked out, Colo4Atlanta will continue a data center wide roll out on a per request basis.
Some initial features include:
- Block country’s via country-to-IP lists updated every 24 hours
- Rate limit the input and/or output of any size IP subnet
- Adaptive rules that can block or throttle any size IP subnet based on packets per second, or bandwidth bitrates
Many more features are being kept confidential pending further development and testing, but expect to see some some very advanced features in the following months.
New Colo4Atlanta Blog
Now that we finally have a blog up, we plan to keep it updated as much as possible with things going on around the data center, new development projects, and service releases. We have a lot planned for the next few months, various new service roll outs and some projects that might make it into a product or service for our clients.
Please check back often as we will be posting new projects and services at random, and would love to have feedback from anyone interested in chatting about one of our ideas/projects/services.
